Early this July, a professional packaging service provider in the UK launched two oversized industrial foldable pallet collars, tailor-made for auto parts and heavy hardware manufacturers. The new containers directly tackle two long-standing logistics headaches for factories: excessive freight fees for empty container return transport and limited warehouse storage space.
A local auto component factory ran initial trials with 100 sets of XL foldable collars for cross-plant transit of large chassis parts. Fully loaded, each unit supports a load of 300–350 kg and fits all kinds of irregular bulky goods. After unloading, side panels fold down with one simple operation, cutting the box height from 750mm to 225mm. A single delivery truck can carry 3.5 times more empty folded collars than rigid containers.
The factory's logistics supervisor recorded real operational data: previously, wooden crates and solid plastic bins limited each truck to just 28 empty containers on return trips. After switching to the new foldable pallet collars, the same truck can hold 98 empty folded units. The factory cut 2 weekly cross-plant delivery trips, slashing monthly reverse logistics costs by roughly 1,200 Euros.
