Insect Breeding Crate

Insect Breeding Crate
Details:
A 38-litre rearing tray built for insect farms that run tray after tray, every day. The inside is completely smooth — no slots, ribs or ledges for larvae to grip — so mealworms, black soldier fly larvae and crickets stay where they belong, and a single sweep clears the tray between batches. All the reinforcement sits on the outside: a ribbed wall grid, a full grid of base ribs cross-braced in an X, and four stackable corner posts that interlock, hold the load and leave a gap between trays for air to move. That base structure is what keeps a tray of wet substrate flat instead of sagging in the middle, so trays stack level and slide in and out of racking without rocking. Moulded in one piece from food-grade PP, it weighs 1.24 kg, washes down, takes disinfectant and stacks five to six high in a rearing room.

Products Feature

1)Fully smooth interior:

walls and floor carry no slots, ribs or joints, so climbing insects have nothing to grip. Escape rates drop and no feed or frass lodges in hidden corners.

2)Wide application scenarios:

Ideal for black soldier fly, mealworm, cricket and other insect breeding, also available for fruit & vegetable turnover, parts sorting and warehouse storage.

3)Interlocking stacking posts:

four corner posts seat into the tray below, so full trays stack squarely and the stack can be lifted as one unit.

Integrated thickened corner support structure for stable stacking, saving floor space and adapting to high-density breeding lines.

FAQ

Q: Will very small insects, such as pinhead crickets, climb out?

A: The interior is smooth and the corner posts sit above the rim, which stops mealworms, BSFL and larger crickets from climbing. Newly hatched pinhead crickets can still climb a dry vertical wall, so for those first few days we recommend a mesh lid or a thin barrier band - the standard practice in cricket rooms.

Q: Which insects is this tray suitable for?

A: Any species reared in a shallow layer - mealworms and superworms, black soldier fly larvae, crickets and grasshoppers, bait worms and composting worms. The rule of thumb is simple: if the insect cannot grip a smooth plastic wall, it stays in the tray. For climbing stages or winged adults, add a mesh lid.

Q:Can the trays be stacked when full?

A: Yes. The load passes down through the ribbed base into the four corner posts, not through the walls, so full trays stack squarely and can be moved as a block. Keep wet substrate layers moderate - a deep bed of damp substrate is what strains a shallow tray, not the tray above it - and keep every stack on a level floor or pallet.

Q Can it be washed and disinfected between batches?

A: Yes. PP takes hot water up to about 80 °C, standard detergents and disinfectants such as diluted sodium hypochlorite. Avoid solvent-based cleaners and do not stack trays while wet - trapped moisture between the rims is where mould starts.

Q:What are the packing and container figures?

A: Outer 600 × 400 × 190 mm, inner 565 × 365 × 187 mm, 1.24 kg per tray. Four trays fit a 1200 × 800 pallet layer and five fit a 1200 × 1000; a 40HQ takes 95 trays per layer, approximately 1,235 trays in total.
